When I’m not researching the latest beauty trends or fashion ideas for my blog, I love to read, watch, and listen just like everybody else. While my taste can vary, I love to catch up with entrepreneurial leaders on podcasts, get fashion advice from YouTubers, and unwind after a long day with a classic sitcom. Read on to learn what I’m currently reading, watching, and listening to.
Lately for my personal development needs, I’ve been turning to the BossBabe Podcast. Dr. Danielle Canty and Natalie Ellis are the two babes behind BossBabe. They’re the reason for one of the fastest growing online communities of female entrepreneurs around the world. The podcast feels like a conversation between you and your ambitious best friends — the two spend their time discussing marriage, business strategy, money, and biohacking. I turn to this podcast to learn about building successful businesses and how to balance having it all.
With 1 million Youtube subscribers, it’s easy to see how Shea Whitney has amassed such a following. She covers classic, luxury style, in addition to fashion trends and beauty. From videos like “8 Summer Style Mistakes” to “10 Outfits that Look Expensive”, Shea Whitney outlines easy styling tricks, clothing hauls, and beauty tips in digestible videos.
To relax and unwind, I turn on Canadian sitcom Schitt’s Creek created by father and son duo Eugene and Dan Levy. The show features the Rose family — a filthy rich family that finds themselves suddenly broke due to poor management by their financial advisor. They find themselves living in a run down motel in the town they once bought as a joke — Schitt’s Creek. What follows is classic Canadian humility and humor. THis show is full of rich character development, aspirational and hilarious fashion wardrobes, and overall good hearted humor and fun.
A classic from many of our childhoods, the reboot of Full House aired in 2016 and I’ve been obsessed ever since. It includes Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin, and Andrea Barber from the original cast. It follows D.J., now a mother to three sons and a widow, back to her childhood home with her sister Stephanie and lifelong friend Kimmy Gibbler. Gibbler, also a single mother, and Stephnaie, an aspiring musician, are all under one roof where the three women tackle life’s big and small experiences together.
